Family & Kids Ministry Update

Prayer and a Plate Outreach and Back to Church 🌸 Our Fall Evangelistic Community Outreach is coming soon on the 3rd Weekend in September, and we could not be more excited! We still need about 20 volunteers to help with tent setup, cooking, and final cleanup from 10:30 am setup onward, and 1 pm breakdown and cleaning.Sign Up Here Many hands make light work, and honestly, it's one of the most fun weekends of the year. Bring sunscreen and love. Our Sunday Kids Church curriculum this month is walking through the story of David. We’re talking about courage, failure, grace, and restoration—big themes, told in ways that actually land for a 6-year-old. Parents, ask your kids about it on the drive home! This week's lesson focuses on 1 Samuel 16:7: "The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." We're teaching our kids early that they are seen and valued for exactly who they are. We also want to spotlight one of our incredible volunteers, Missionary Tracy Harris, who has served our Children's Church classroom on Sundays for the past five years. She works diligently alongside another faithful worker, Deaconess Edith Smith. Sister Tracy, you are the definition of faithfulness. Our kids light up when they see you walk through that door. Thank you for your service. We are praying for your successful relocation to Missouri. Is God calling you to take your next step? Join Deaconess Edith Smith’s team and start volunteering today. Coming up: Prayer and Plate Outreach and Back to Church Sunday on 3rd Weekend of September – mark your calendar.😊🙏

Student Ministry Update _ Chop It UP
It’s been a week. Middle schoolers, high schoolers – we SEE you. This has been a heavy week for a lot of our students, and our “Chop It Up Group” on every third Friday is going to be a safe, low-pressure space to breathe, laugh, and talk about real stuff. We'll have food, we'll have some genuinely terrible icebreaker games, and we'll have real conversation. Want to talk to someone before we meet? We’re here. This week's topic is "What do I do when God feels far away?" We're spending time in Psalm 22 – a psalm that opens with "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" – and sitting with the honest, uncomfortable truth that doubt and faith can coexist. No easy answers. Just an honest conversation. We also want to celebrate Eli Pack, who has achieved numerous awards and recognitions for job well done as a junior usher. Eli, we've watched you work for this and we are so proud of you. Your Faith Temple Family is always in your corner. Keep doing GREAT things! 📅 Friday, August 21, 6:30 PM 📍 The Fellowship Hall (Youth Wing, Side Entrance) Parents – our ‘Back to School” parent info night is Friday, August 21st. We'll share what we've been teaching, where we're headed, and how you can stay connected to your teenager's spiritual life without losing your mind. We'll also have a counselor on hand to talk through what's showing up emotionally and socially for teens in Aurora right now. Details coming soon.

Men's Ministry Update
We sharpen each other On Saturday, August 8, the Men's Department meets for a special session of our summer series, "Present" – Being the Man You're Actually Called to Be. Last week's conversation about emotional availability in friendships and marriage hit harder than most of us expected. Several guys stayed an extra hour just to keep talking, and the conversation has continued throughout the week. That's what belonging to this group is all about. Next week, we're opening up Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." We'll be asking honestly: who is sharpening you right now? And who are you sharpening? These aren't easy questions for men who've been taught to go it alone, but they're the right ones. We want to spotlight Carlos Zapata, who quietly showed up to beutify our Church parking lot. No announcement, no social media post — just men showing up getting the job done. Carlos, that's the kind of leadership that changes a neighborhood. Carlos typifies all of our Faith Temple Men’s Department. Thanks for all you do. Volunteers Needed: We’re seeking two or three men with construction or handyman skills to join our maintenance crew in remodeling our Nursery Room for our infants and preschoolers. Please contact Deacon Rudy for more information.Sign Up Here 📅 Men's Department – Saturday, August 8, 10:30 AM online or Pastor’s office Upcoming: Men's Fall Meeting – September 12th, on Zoho or at the Church

Women's Ministry Update
Will we be found faithful? We are in the heart of our summer Bible study series, and it does not disappoint. This Thursday, we're sitting with Ruth 2 – the moment Boaz notices Ruth gleaning in the fields and says, "I've been told all about what you have done." Her faithfulness was seen, even when she thought no one was watching. There is so much in that for us. New faces are always welcome. Bring your friend or family member, or join us online on Zoho. You can jump in at any point in the series. Many women have joined mid-series and said they wished they'd come sooner. If you've been on the fence, Thursday is your day.Sign Up Here We're thrilled to spotlight a Woman of Excellence! Missionary Lorrie Cook, one of our Women's Ministry small group leaders, who also leads our outreach ministry Faith Connections. Sis. Lorrie, you have juggled leadership, study, family, and faith with extraordinary grace. We appreciate and celebrate her. Volunteers needed: We're looking for women with hospitality gifts to help Sunday morning greeters/ushers. It's a small role with a big impact. You’re suited to do this. 📅 Weekly Bible Study – Thursday nights at 7 pm online on Zoho Upcoming: Lady Dixon’s 5th Sunday Service, August 30th Please join us as we celebrate and support Lady Dixon.

Weekly Prayer Update
A Word Before We Pray Prayer is not a last resort at Faith Temple – it's a first response. Every week this update goes out as an invitation: to slow down, to intercede, and to remember that we are not a collection of individuals navigating life separately. We are a body. What affects one of us affects all of us. Thank you for praying with us. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." – Philippians 4:6 🙌 Follow-Up From Last Week – Giving Thanks Before we bring new requests, we stop to celebrate what God has done. These are updates from prayer requests our community lifted up last week: We enthusiastically thank God for answered prayer! Faith Connections Food Bank – Last week, we prayed over the logistics and the volunteers. God showed up. Over 100 lbs of food collected, hygiene kits assembled, and as many of you have now heard, a guest visiting our church this Sunday! Pray our guest feels at home the moment they walk through the door. 🙏 This Week's Prayer Requests For Our Congregation: 🙏 Margie Anderson, Sis. Luvenia Smith. 🙏 The 1st Family – Jaslyn, Jasari, and Jaleel, that God’s covering will be on them. Pray for protection, favor, healing, honesty, and hope. 🙏 All Families at Faith Temple who are grieving due to loss. Please pray for all our families as they grieve and make arrangements. Cards can be dropped at the Welcome Table and will be passed along. 🙏 All Faith Temple Seniors – Please pray for all the seniors and their families in our congregation and city facing economic uncertainties. For Our City: 🙏 First Responders – Pray for sustained support, for housing solutions, and for the mental health of our first responders, wives, and children who are subjected to untold pressures and stress while also having to process trauma. 🙏 Our Unhoused Neighbors – Pray specifically for the safety and dignity of those living on the streets, culverts, sewers, all across our city and the Greater Denver Metro Area. Pray for our outreach team, Faith Connections, as they serve on Fridays. 🙏 Local Schools – Schools will be opening in the Denver Metro over the next 3 weeks. Several Aurora and Denver City schools are navigating staff shortages and increased potential student anxiety. Pray for teachers, counselors, and administrators who are stretched thin and showing up anyway as we prepare for a new school year. For Our Global COGIC Partners: 🙏 We pray for COGIC missions' growth in all 121 countries worldwide. We know church growth is a blessing and a strain. We pray for wise leadership, Spirit-led ministry, and genuine rest for all Church and House teams worldwide that are pouring themselves out for the cause of Christ and the gospel. How to Receive Prayer Every request we receive is treated with care and confidentiality. You can receive prayer in our community both in-person and online. In-Person – after each service, there’s an open invitation to receive prayer from a prayer leader near the front of the church. The folks that you rub shoulders with in your seats are also more than willing to pray with you right where you are. Online – we can still stay connected when we’re apart. Submit a prayer request here online at any time. A real prayer warrior is on the other end of the line.Share Your Prayer Request

Pastoral Letter
To the wonderful saints, friends, and families of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. It is with a deeply grateful heart that I write to you today. I am continually humbled and blessed to serve as your pastor and to walk alongside such a faithful, loving, and committed congregation. Truly, you are one of the greatest congregations ever, and I do not say that lightly. Your prayers, your support, your generosity, and your unwavering love for God and His people have been a constant source of encouragement to me and to this ministry. As your pastor, I am reminded often of the goodness of God in placing me in this sacred assignment. To shepherd this house, to preach the Word, to pray with you, to celebrate your victories, and to stand with you in seasons of challenge is one of the greatest honors of my life. I do not take this responsibility for granted. Every day, I thank God for the privilege of serving such an extraordinary body of believers. Faith Temple is more than a church — it is a family, a place of worship, a place of healing, a place of growth, and a place where God is truly at work. I am humbled by the faithfulness of this congregation and inspired by your commitment to the mission of Christ. Together, we have seen God move in powerful ways, and I believe even greater things are still ahead. Thank you for allowing me to serve you, pray for you, and lead you. I am honored beyond words to be your pastor, and I remain committed to loving you, teaching you, and seeking God’s best for this great church.
